The Driggs-Reed Memorial Airport is slated to be closed on July 21st for two months. The FAA has mandated that the airport meet C-II design standards for the aircraft already using our facility or they will not fund any runway resurfacing project. This mandate was given to the City of Driggs in late September of 2008. In order to meet the standards for C-II classification there are longitudinal grade limitations, larger safety areas, transverse grades, and other requirements must be met. Both the runway and parallel taxiway and connectors to the west will be reconstructed.
Work will begin in late June on the surface to the east of the runway. The airport will close on July 21st when work will begin on both the runway and taxiway. Work crews will be onsite Monday through Saturday from 6:30am to 10:30pm. The runway is scheduled to re-open in late September.
If you have the chance, check out Breitling's new calender, catalog and website to see some of Teton Aviation's finest aircraft, including the venerable FJ-4B Fury! It's the best reason we've ever had to buy a Breitling watch. Check out the Fury online at http://www.breitling.com/en/intro.php
This year saw the completion of another safe and successful backcountry safari. The preparation and planning of Dr. Rich Sugden paid off in spades, as we enjoyed the best safari yet! It’s not easy to organize over 25 airplanes and 48 people! But everyone did a fantastic job, proving that we do get better with practice and experience! Kif and Dawn Brown and their cadre of assistants did a fantastic job of keeping everyone fat and happy with excellent cuisine when we were on the ground at Johnson Creek. Thanks to everyone who made it, and we look forward to next year!
In an exciting new development over the past few months, Teton Aviation Center is now home to North West Husky Sales. Backcountry pilot and salesman Geoff Lynes is heading up the new department, and is thrilled about representing Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Florida! Geoff isn't going it all alone, and has some great affiliate dealers, such as John Holcomb in Florida. Give Geoff a call if you've got any questions about the Aviat Husky, or want to schedule a demo flight. (208) 354-3100, or www.northwesthusky.com
Congratulations Hunter!
